Food security is an important component of national security.China needs to further stabilize and improve it.This paper first constructs a time-varying stochastic frontier production function model of the regional total grain output from the perspective of total volume,and measures the mechanical power,irrigational areas,chemical fertilizer application,sown area,and the labor forces of grain production in the technical efficiency of grain production,and analyzes the characteristics of spatialtemporal evolution;then,a panel quantile regression model is employed to study the influence of input factors in grain production on the per capita grain possession,and analyze the evolutionary effects with food security upward.The research shows that:(1)In terms of total volume,the technological input in grain production in the main grain sales area is saturated,chemical fertilizer,sown area and labor forces of grain production are the important contribution factors;The increase of the efficiency of chemical fertilizer application and the promotion of the process of urbanization are conducive to the grain output in the main grain balance areas.Chemical fertilizers,irrigational area and also the sown area of grain production have an important influence on the grain production in major grain producing areas.(2)The technical efficiency of China's grain production factor input,with a steady increasing trend,is not high on the whole.It shows the characteristics of distributions as follows: the main grain sales area> the main grain producing area> the grain balance area;the Yangtze River is the boundary at the south-north level,featuring the characteristics of distribution: South of the Yangtze River>North of the Yangtze River;the rainfall line is as the boundary at the east-west level with the differences of distribution: 800mm>400mm>200mm.(3)From the point of view of per capita grain possession,the impact of the per labor total mechanical power and per labor sown area of grain production on the per capita grain possession increased with the improvement of the level of food security.The influence of per labor chemical fertilizer and per labor irrigational area of food production on the per capita grain possession decreased with the improvement of the level of food security;the proportion of the total labor forces of food production has a significant positive role in promoting regional food security,but it is located below the frontier.(4)The path to improve regional food security in China is “Arable land Fragmentation ? Scale Management of Cultivated Land ? Intensive Use of Factors ? Efficient Use of Factors”.All regions need to be stable in accordance with local conditions and improve the level of regional food security.Finally,based on the results of research,this paper puts forward some corresponding policy recommendations from the perspective of improving food security.
