In 2016,the urbanization rate had reached 57.35% in China, which had entered accelerated period of development. In the process of rapid urbanization, residents' living standards have been improved and their living environment has been improved. At the same time, problems such as urban congestion and inadequate public service provision had been emerged. On the other hand, there has also been a phenomenon of unbalanced development of urbanized regions. The rate of urbanization in the eastern region was 68.49%,and that in the western region was 49.43%,which was lower than that in the eastern region18.96%.It was also lower than the national average 7.92%.The article takes the quality of urbanization in western China as the research object and builds on four theories(based on sustainable development, livable cities, integration of urban and rural areas),including four dimensions(living standards, livability, urban development potential,urban-rural integration). The evaluation index system for urbanization quality of 23 specific indicators uses the analytic hierarchy process which based on entropy to determine the index weights, and obtains the assessment results of urbanization quality in the western regions, and then analyzes the quality of urbanization in the western region, and clarifies the existence of the urbanization process. Finally, the issue of improving the quality of urbanization in the western region was proposed. In the study of the quality of urbanization in the western region, the quality of urbanization in the western region during the period 2000-2016 was analyzed through vertical comparison. It was found that the level of urbanization in the western region has been increasing year by year;the contribution of livability to the quality of urbanization has been high. The location, the fastest growing standard of living.A comparative analysis of the quality of urbanization in the western region and in the eastern, central and northeast regions revealed that western regions have caused low levels of living, insufficient supply of public services such as science, education, culture and public health, poor governance of the ecological environment, and low coordination between urban and rural areas.Compared with the eastern, central and northeast regions, there are still gaps between the regions, showing the trend of “low in the west and high in the west”.In order to more clearly analyze the quality of urbanization in cities in the western region, the article also uses spss to classify cities in the western region at or above the prefect level into four types with good, moderate, average, and poor urbanization, and conduct comparative analysis: There are problems with good urbanization types such as uncoordinated urban-rural relations, imperfect infrastructure for medium-sized public transport, low pollutant treatment rates, inadequate provision of general types of medical and natural gas and other living facilities, and low levels of poor types.Based on the analysis of the quality of urbanization in the western region,we proposed measures to improve the quality of urbanization in the western region from the aspects of promoting economic development, protecting the ecological environment, and improving public cultural infrastructure.Second, different types of urbanization quality were proposed.Measures for Urbanization Quality: The quality of good urbanization needs to increase the level of urban-rural integration.Moderate quality of urbanization needs to improve infrastructure such as transportation, and general types need to increase the supply of medical and other public services.
