Urbanization refers to a process wherein with the development of social productiveforces,cities and towns grow in both their amount and scale with a centralized population,aconstant expansion of city civilization and culture and a continuous transforming of theregional industrial structure.Urbanization is the result of economic and social development,and it also gives an impetus to regional economic development. The level of urbanizationdegree of regional urbanization embodiment, is a measure of a regional community, animportant indicator of economic development. Central Plains Economic Region is China’smajor grain producing areas, is the highest concentration of agricultural population in China.“agriculture, rural areas and farmer’s problems of the Central Plains Economic Region aremost serious. Central Plains Economic Region of China’s industrialization is advancing fromeast to west the fulcrum, to undertake an important area in eastern industrial transfer.Therefore,working out the reasonable estimation to urbanization level is very important.The level of urbanization measurement is a comprehensive approach to judge the level ofurbanization. Based on urbanization rich contents, build a comprehensive evaluation indexsystem of urbanization level, the paper uses comprehensive index method, principalcomponent analysis and Arcgis to measure the urbanization level of28prefectures in CentralPlains Economic Region. The result shows that regional differences of the urbanization levelin Central Plains Economic Region are remarkably, overall showing that core-peripherystructure, regional centre is taller, divergence lower layers outward, external lower levels ofurbanization and spatial distribution pattern of urbanization level in individual cities raised;From the population, the optimization perspective of the economy, society, urbanmodernization, infrastructure, ecological environment and so on, the level gradient of thesynthetic urbanization in Central Plains Economic Region is divided into five kinds of district.The research also discusses the different characteristics of regional urbanization andascertains the weak points and development direction of each gradient region in CentralPlains Economic Region. The dissertation is composed of six parts.Part One:Introduction,presents the background and the meaning of research, as well asurbanization measurement research status quo both at home and abroad; the problem to solveand research method are brought forward. Part Two:"Summary of the theory of urbanization". It explains the concept, the meaningof urbanization, the basic theory of urbanization and its development common rules arepresented.Part Three:"The level of urbanization comprehensive evaluation system". Describe thelevels of urbanization are two ways to measure and target selection guidelines and principles.According to the actual situation in the Central Plains Economic Region to build acomprehensive evaluation index system of urbanization level, explains the meaningrepresented by the indicators.Part Four:" Central Plains Economic Region comprehensive evaluation of the level ofurbanization". First, introduced the basic situation of the Zhongyuan economic region, andthen using principal componment analysis of the Central Plains Economic Region of the29cities in the principal component analysis, and use the distance formula to its urbanizationlevel classification.Part Five:" Countermeasure suggestion for hastening urbanization development ofCentral Plains Economic Region”. Aim at Central Plains Economic Region’s actual fact, thesuggestion measures of boosting urbanization course step of Central Plains Economic Regionare putfward from four different aspects.Part Six: It is conclusion of the dissertation. It sums up the research of the article andpoints out the way of needing to probe more.
