In an age of informatization and globalization,innovation has become a key factor for a company to maintain its competitiveness.A large number of uncertainties in resources such as technology,knowledge,and information,as well as the innovation characteristics of high investment,complex technology,and high risk,encourage companies to actively integrate innovation results in the same industry,and classify technological innovation activities in the industry into its innovation system,then the industrial technology group comes into being.Through the formation of industrial technology groups,firms share technology and knowledge,study in depth advanced technology,have access to complementary innovation resources,then improving their innovation.The process of firms with similar technologies gradually forming an industrial technology group through the exchange and cooperation of resources such as technology,knowledge,and information is industrial technology grouping.The industrial technology grouping is a normal phenomenon in the process of industrial development.It is very important to understanding the influence of industrial technology grouping on innovation performance.The current research on innovation performance is mainly analyzed from the perspective of social network or firm capabilities.This paper starts with the characteristics of the industrial technology group structure of the innovation network and studies the effect of industrial technology group structural characteristics on innovation performance.Under the background of this research,this paper introduces the industrial technology grouping into the research framework of innovation performance,and discusses the influence of industrial technology grouping and structural embedding on innovation performance.This article takes five high-tech industries as the research object,selects patent cited data of 278 major companies in the industry from 2000 to 2015 as research sample.This paper applies network analysis and hierarchical regression analysis methods,and uses UCINET 6.0 and SPSS 20.0 to deal with the patent data of the high-tech industry,then verifying the hypotheses of the research variables,and discussing the mechanism of industrial technology grouping on innovation performance.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Firms with similar technologies gradually form industrial technology groups through the exchange and cooperation of resources such as technology,knowledge,and information.The industrial technology grouping is a normal phenomenon in the process of industrial development;(2)Industrial technology grouping and structural embedding both positively influences innovation performance;(3)Centrality of structural embedding positively moderates the impact of industrial technology grouping on innovation performance,and reach of structural embedding positively moderates the impact of clustering of industrial technology grouping on innovation performance.This article focuses on the phenomenon of industrial technology grouping in the process of industrial development.It discusses the functional characteristics of industrial technology grouping,structural embedding on innovation performance.It helps firms to form a great development relationship which is both complementary and competitive.Through the collaborative innovation behavior inside and outside technology group,firms can enhance their innovation performance.
