In the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China's economy has grown rapidly,and gradually transformed.China's overall national strength has been continuously improved.At the same time,profound changes have taken place in the political and economic structure of the world.China's role in global governance is becoming more and more important.China's global influence has been increasing and plays an indispensable role in international communication activities.To gurantee the success of its Go Global and The Belt and Road Initiative,China has made tremendous effort in international politics and cultural cooperation.By taking advantages in these two areas,China is enabled to propel the economic development,improve the level of opening up,stimulate Chinese companies to explore the international market and strengthen international production cooperation.Unlike traditional studies,this study focuses on bilateral international communication and explores the impact on China's foreign economy and trade.Based on panel data,this study uses bilateral leaders' access and Confucius institutes as the agent variables of international communication to explore the influence mechanism and heterogeneity of international communication on China's foreign economy and trade.The results show that:(1)International communication has promoting effect for China's foreign economy and trade.(2)The investment promotion effect of host country leaders' visit to China is stronger than Chinese leaders' visit to the host country.(3)Different level leaders' visit has different effects on China's outward FDI.The investment promotion role of other senior officials is greater than that of heads of state or government.(4)Compared with import trade,international communication has promoted the growth of China's export trade more.(5)The effect of international communication on trade promotion has obvious characteristics of regional heterogeneity.In countries with great cultural differences with China,international communication cultural communication have a greater marginal promotion to trade growth.Facing the new normal state of the world economic,political and cultural pattern,Chinese enterprises will face more economic and trade risks.Based on the conclusion of theoretical and empirical analysis,this study puts forward some policy suggestions on how to promote the development of Chinese enterprises' foreign trade and economic development.The government should give full play to its international influence,rationally plan and coordinate the policies of international political and cultural communications and enhance the ability to guide and guarantee Chinese enterprises.When entering the international market,Chinese enterprises should take full account of the relationship between China and host countries in terms of politics,culture and economy,and make full use of the national political and cultural advantages to enhance their competitiveness and avoid market risks.
