In 2010,the United States became the largest trading partner of China.The United States is the second largest export market for China,while China is also the second largest trading partner of the United States and the second largest import market of the United States.As Sino-US trade upgrades gradually,starting from importing and exporting primary products(for example,the United States exports ginseng while China exports tea leaves)during Ming and Qing Dynasties to nowadays' bilateral trade between China and the United States which gives priority to manufactured goods(such as machinery and equipment products)and tends to trade of capital-intensive products,the evolution of Sino-US cargo trade structure indicates the economic power of China and the United States.Changes of industrial technical level and status of international division of labor are closely related to the issues such as the trade closeness and trade friction,and therefore,studying Sino-US cargo trade structure is an indispensable part in studying Sino-US trade.Meanwhile,the bilateral trade structure with the United States who is the developed country giving priority to import and export of capital intensive products also reflects the development status of nowadays' Chinese industry and the accompanying problems.Through retrospection on the development history and current situation of Sino-US cargo trade,Sino-US cargo structure is analyzed objectively and reasonably with quantitative data,the factors including Sino-US cargo trade are explored,and the corresponding suggestions are proposed on the development of Chinese future industry especially labor intensive products.In this paper,it is discussed based on this train of thought.This paper is divided into six parts.Part One is introduction,introducing modern world's economic background briefly,and showing the goals and significance of the paper,as well as the whole paper's structural thought.Part Two mainly introduces the associated international trade theory,and also the current status of domestic and overseas studies on cargo trade structure especially Sino-US cargo trade structure.Part Three is the Chapter Three of the paper,it mainly introduces and analyzes the history and current situation of Sino-US trade,and among which,the analysis is conducted from the perspectives of both import trade and export trade,Sino-US cargo trade is analyzed in subsection through referring to HS code and taking the 1990 s as the time nodes,products are divided into three categories including labor intensive products,resource intensive products and capital intensive products,its structure andchanges are explained in detail,the structure and causes of two industries including plant(namely soybean industry)and electromechanical industry are analyzed emphatically.Part Four is the quantitative analysis on Sino-US cargo trade structure,the three dimensional measurement is conducted on closeness,complementarity and amount of variation of Sino-Us trade in virtue of trade integration index,trade complementary index and Lawrence index,thus to find out the industries which China and the United States have the dominant comparative advantages and trade structure changing tendencies.In Part Five,the factors influencing Sino-US cargo trade are analyzed from two perspectives including economy and politics.In the last part,the corresponding suggestions and opinions on Sino-US cargo trade structure are proposed through the data and qualitative analysis of the above chapters based on politic factors,economic factors and technical factors.
