Social media has increasingly been used to deal with personal and professional issues.WeChat has been identified as one of the most representative and successful social media platforms since the emergence of web 2.0.In the meantime,people's awareness of participating in organizational and social activities through social media has shown a rapid growth tendency.Online participants,ranging from young people to the elderly ones,have been deeply attracted by unique functions and affordances of WeChat through which a set of communications and interactions can be realized.Past studies note that individuals of different digital fluency present distinct technology use behaviors.Yet,limited research has explored how digital fluency affects individuals' motivations and the use of social media tools.Different individuals present various behaviors towards WeChat due to respective motivations.Based on uses and gratifications theory and digital fluency literature,this paper develops a model to explore the relationship between digital fluency and social media use.This research author sent 100 questionnaires in pilot investigation.In the process of formal investigation,the author sent 500 questionnaires and finally The author tested my model by analyzing 262 selected questionnaire responses of different age,gender and level of education from WeChat users.In order to insure the stability and reliability of my results,the author conducted common method bias and the test of reliability and validity by using Smart PLS 3.0 and SPSS software.Further,this research conducted hypotheses testing by Smart PLS 3.0 and Amos 22.0 software.The conclusions find that different gratifications result in different behavioral usage towards WeChat among which maintaining tie and enjoyment are two dominant reasons explaining why people use WeChat.Moreover,results show that digital natives(individuals of high digital fluency)tend to use WeChat to broaden social network while digital immigrants(individuals of low digital fluency)tend to enjoy WeChat use and to use WeChat to maintain ties with friends and fulfill their information needs.Researchers can also gain benefeits from demands and gratifications from WeChat users.
