With the proposal of the 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative, how to promote its construction has become a key area explored by scholars. The “One Belt and One Road” is an important strategic move for China to coordinate domestic economic development and deepen its opening to the outside world.Southeast Asia is a priority development direction of China's peripheral diplomacy and one of the important regions covered by “One Belt and One Road”.ASEAN is an important strategic partner of China. With the "Belt and Road" building an important participant.Among them, how to establish good economic and trade relations with countries along the route has become the focus of research. The China-ASEAN Free Trade Area has a significant demonstration effect and reference significance for China's gradual establishment of a network of free trade zones based on the “Belt and Road” and globally oriented.Analysing and studying the trade effects brought about by the tariff reduction after the establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area can accelerate the pace of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, expand the depth and breadth of the free trade relationship between the two countries, and further increase the level of China's economic opening to the outside world.Based on the empirical analysis of the tariff reduction in the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the analysis of the empirical results of the development of the North American Free Trade Area, this paper provides experiences for the establishment of China's future free trade area and the arrangements for trade agreements. For the establishment and development of China's future free trade area,we should establish a targeted tariff concession model, which is conducive to the orderly development of trade in all countries, resulting in the greatest trade effect, and reduce the adverse effects of tariff cuts on the domestic industry. In addition, countries should adopt a pattern of cooperation between tariff policies and non-tariff policies to increase the effectiveness of the entire economic environment. They should also actively implement the FTA strategy, avoid trade barriers, strengthen industrial cooperation with member states, and promote global strategic layout.More importantly,we must not overlook the global strategy of ASEAN countries. We must make full use of the "radiation effects" of ASEAN countries to create a better environment for China's trade.
