Straw is rich in organic nutrients and is an important biomass resource. As China's rural living standards increase, crop stalks that were originally used as fuel or feed for life are discarded or burned in the open by farmers as agricultural waste. This not only causes waste of resources, but also brings problems such as environmental pollution, traffic, and fire hazards.China's main crop straw resources are abundant, especially corn stalks. In order to reduce the negative externalities of incineration straw, the state has strengthened the supervision and punishment of straw incineration on the one hand, and on the other hand promoted the use of straw “five ways”.In five ways, returning straw to the field is recognized as a fast, efficient, and extensive use of straw. In Gaizhou City,a major agricultural county in Yingkou,Liaoning Province, corn planting area is large.Through the investigation of the local corn stalk resources and utilization,it is found that there's some Limiting factor on the local corn stalks return to farmland. The factors that affect the adoption of corn stalk return technology by farmers need further investigation and research. In this study, field surveys were conducted to randomly select 20 administrative villages in 5 townships in Gaizhou City to visit farmers, issue 200 questionnaires, and retrieve 176 valid questionnaires. After the data of the questionnaires were collected,21 indicators were selected, including the influence of the householder's own characteristics, family characteristics, income and costs, policies, technology, and social factors.By cross-analysis of whether households adopted corn stalk returning technology or not and all these factors, the householder's age, level of education, and whether or not there was a migrant worker's experience were obtained. The household's family's economic level, main source of income, and ease of operation of the agricultural machinery were from the family factors, these are more important.Among the external influence factors, the relationship between income and cost, government subsidy policy, technical guidance, and the degree of satisfaction of relatives and neighbors adopting technology are more critical for whether farmers adopt the corn straw returning technology. In the advice of policies, attention should be paid to increasing financial subsidies to reduce the cost of farmers, demonstrating and promoting agricultural machinery and agricultural techniques, and strengthening the research and development of corn straw returning technology and new agricultural machinery.
