The traditional "four stages" method of forecasting transport demand is lack of interconnectedness between activity and travel, and doesn't include decision-making process,so it has been substituted by activity-based approach gradually, which becomes a trend in further traffic planning. However, ignoring the interactions between household members, most studies on travel behavior take individual as decision-making unit and model based on utility maximization in which resulted a weak explanatory power for forecasting models, and its planning effect is not as good as four stages method due to individual micro-level perspective. Therefore,it is a key problem to seek the reasonable support theory and analysis methods to compensate for the loss of existing activity-based approach, and to link the micro of individual study to its macro-level of travel behavior. On the basis of time and space constraints, this paper emphasizes the influence of social relationship to individual behavior, integrates time geography and social network theory into individual behavior. On one hand,time-geography can provide a feasibility theoretical framework for individual activity and travel based on spatial-temporal constraint. On the other hand, social network analysis can build a bridge from micro-level of individual interactive to macro-level of travel behavior. In general, the study scope of this thesis includes the following contents.First,on the basis of summarizing research status both at home and abroad, this thesis introduces time geography and social network theory into the study of household activity-travel,and presents a framework of theory system for analyzing interactions between household members, which from the two aspects of external space constraints and internal interacting networks.Second, this thesis analyzes household members' interaction characteristics of activity-travel in different family structures based on the social network theory by 2011's Resident Trip Survey in Kunming. After multi-dimensional data clustering and grouping, typical household interaction models and their characteristics were obtained.Furthermore, the correlation between household resources, task assignment, daily schedule and family relationships types which corresponds individual's location in a family structure was detected. Finally,a structural equation is established to confirm household's activity-travel behavior based on social network theories. The result shows social network theories are suitable for analyzing activity-travel behavior and methods are also feasible, then for children accompany travel decision-making process in the most representative nuclear family structure, social network theories and methods are used to explore the internal interaction among members how influences decision-making process. It is provided a more scientific and more subtle theoretical basis for the evaluation of the traffic demand management and policy-making.
