Urban Activity Family Car - Traveling Mechanism Of Decision-making Influence

Since China’s reform and opening up, the urbanization process accelerates and urban structure changes gradually as our rapid economic development. While this series of changes accelerate the ownership and use of cars, they bring a lot of traffic problems. As a result, more and more questions appear in the discordant problem of car development and urban development. Studying car travel behavior and developing reasonable traffic demand management policies can effectively ease urban traffic problems. The traditional traffic behavior analysis ignores the following issues:a) Household is the decision-makers of activities and travel; b) The behavior of individuals has constraints based on the family and its members. Based on the above background, this article selects a car family and studies family activities-travel decision-making mechanism using structural equation modeling from the perspective of family. The purpose of this paper is to explore the internal cause of car travel, in order to offer some suggestions for the development of cars.Taking the car family as research object, this paper has carried on the following aspects combined with2011’s Resident Trip Survey in Kunming:first of all, through analysis basic features of the car using, the family characteristics with cars, the car user’s characteristics in car family and the basic usage of the car were summed up; Second, after summarizing existing activities analysis, it showed that time space constraints and the function of the family is of great significance for activity-travel decision-making, then activities-travel analysis method based on the family was presented; Finally, according to family activities-travel analysis method, the process of family activities-travel decision making is divided into three decision level which is generation of activity demand, activities and the allocation of resources and the time space distribution, and activities-travel decision-making framework of family is proposed. Then construction analyzing structure equation models analysis on the function relation and interaction of factors through the three decision process.Several conclusions are drawn:1.car family is multi-core family own higher income than free-car family, Car travel in the morning peak-hour for the purpose of survival activities who are male,30-50years old or higher morbidity; A comparably high proportion of trip time consume is more than20minutes and the distance of over5km in surrounding region.2、The family who has cars’ survivability activities is more;The survivability activities is performed by workers,the life activities is performed by the unemployed; the proportion of male worker using the car is higher, female workers and students in school use bicycle is much more, the unemployed person and retiree use the bus is much more;3、The family structure is has an important impact on demand for family activities, which include the family number infant condition and the residential area. The age and cultural level with personal attributes have important impact in distribution of life activities; The commuting time and space constraint and cultural level with personal attributes have an important impact in time and space distribution of car’s survivability activities.
