Virtual assembly technology,as a branch of virtual reality,has become a typical application of virtual reality technology in industrial field.The virtual assembly technology which adopts the form of human-computer interaction,aims at auxiliary assembly for shortening the production cycle of the product and improving the assembly efficiency.The structure of the self-propelled artillery is complicated and the process of assembly is tedious.It takes a lot of resources.The application of virtual assembly technology in self-propelled artillery assembly process can provide a new way for enterprises to reduce assembly failure rate,improve assembly efficiency and optimize assembly processes.In this paper,a self-propelled artillery is taken as the research object,and the development status,characteristics and classification of virtual reality technology and virtual assembly technology were studied.Based on the actual assembly processes of the self-propelled artillery,the function of self-propelled artillery virtual assembly system was designed.In view of the particularity of the self-propelled artillery model,a modeling method of virtual assembly system based on Creo and 3D S Max modeling software was proposed,which can solve the problem of importing complex assembly model.The passive infrared optical positioning and tracking system was researched and determined,and the hardware environment of the CAVE virtual assembly system was built.Based on the theory of disassembly,using the advantages of virtual assembly system,a reasonable virtual assembly sequence and virtual assembly path were generated.Based on the level bounding box detection collision theory,according to the system function design,the relevant functions of the CAVE type self-propelled artillery virtual assembly system were realized by the IdeaVR platform.HTC Vive hardware equipment was selected to build the hardware environment of HMD virtual assembly system,and the HMD type self-propelled artillery virtual assembly system was improved and achieved.Based on the Internet-based collaborative network model,the collaborative operation between HMD virtual assembly system and CAVE virtual assembly system in a same self-propelled artillery virtual assembly environment was designed and implemented.
