With the rapid development of science technology, the global manufacturing market is becoming more and more competitive. It is becoming the goal that each enterprise pursues to produce products of high quality and low cost within the shortest time. In order to meet the need of the market and improve the response capability for the market quickly, this dissertation puts forward the system of retarder product virtual assembly based on SolidWorks.At first, this dissertation analyzed the design requirement of the system of virtual assembly. According to the result of the analysis, this paper established the system structure, explained the six functional modules, selected the design software. In addition, some key technologies such as parametric design technology, modeling technology for virtual assembly, assembly information distilling technology and assembly planning technology were put forward. Moreover, through the research and discussion of product assembly information model deeply, this dissertation established an assembly information model that was suitable to SolidWorks products virtual assembly, researched arithmetic of information distilling of assembly model, and put forward the flow chart. Based on the SolidWorks API, the arithmetic program was worked out, and information distilling of assembly model was realized.Assembly sequence planning is an important part of virtual assembly technology. The planning methods and expression modes of assembly sequence were studied emphatically. According to the characteristics of SolidWorks assembly model, the method of delamination planning was selected to make assembly sequence, and assembly relation chart and relation matrix of the model of high speed axis of retarder were built. Applying the assembly routeway function of parts, assembly sequence was figured out. By using the fuzzy synthesis evaluation, assembly evaluation model was founded, and the best project was selected by making fuzzy evaluation of assembly sequence of retarder product.The prototype system of virtual assembly was developed by using the software of SolidWorks and VB. Based on the function of SolidWorks API, the parametric design of the retarder product parts was completed, and the assembly model information distilling, assembly sequence accomplishment, assembly sequence evaluation and assembly simulation and so on were accomplished.
