Research On The Design Of Barrier-free Products For Children With Low Vision

With the development of industrial civilization,the aim of designers is not only to design a product,but also to pay more attention to the vulnerable groups to create a fair public environment.Barrier-free Design’s theory as one of the most influential design ideas,which aims to remove "obstacle" for the vulnerable groups,and provide the product design for the vulnerable groups to enjoy the equal social life.As the member of the vulnerable groups,amblyopia children have many "obstacles" and problems in their daily life.Thus,this project will explore the Barrier-free Product Design for amblyopia children,starting from the real"obstacle" of amblyopia children,to analyze their special needs which is different from the ordinary human,at the same time,classifying the fuction of Barrier-free Product Design for the construction of amblyopia product features and design elements to provide basis and reference,then,through the sensory compensatory design method of barrier-free design to study for amblyopia children.The contents are as follows:(1)By using Parent Symptom Questionnaire and other questionnaire survey,summarized the special obstacle of amblyopia children,can clear the special needs of amblyopia children,to lay the foundation for Barrier-free Product Design of amblyopia children.(2)By using the analytic hierarchy process(AHP),summarizing the functional hierarchy of amblyopia products division,also build the fuction and design elements of amblyopia product,to provide the basis for Barrier-free Product Design of amblyopia children.(3)Through the experiment of amblyopia children’s visual compensatory,determined which way is the amblyopia children receive information most effectively and accurately,which is through the multi-sensory perception,from vision,hearing,touch,respectively on the basis of design requirements for amblyopia products,clear the specific design requirements of amblyopia products.(4)The early application of the research results of this paper and the design projects is made for the amblyopia children’s accessibility for the exploratory research,verified the sensory compensatory design method used in amblyopia’s feasibility.On the basis of the amblyopia children’s special needs,combined with the function level of the barrier-free design theory for amblyopia products and direction of the design elements,barrier-free design is use for amblyopia children to removed "obstacle",not only expand the audience scope of barrier-free design,but also provides a new thought and method for amblyopia product design research.
