The shortage of energy resources restricts a sustainable development of the entire automobile industry.Luckily,new energy vehicles that are in line with the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry are changing the current situation of the automobile industry sector.In recent years,a large number of provinces and cities in China have vigorously developed a new type of energy automotive industry.For example,Sichuan Province has developed new energy automotive industry clusters,though at the primary level.The development of these new energy automobile industry clusters calls for research on the selection of development modes.This study constitutes an effort in this regard.Meanwhile,the development of the new energy auto industrial clusters is a complex and dynamic process of optimization.Therefore,it is challenging,though valuable,to systematically study the development pattern of the new energy vehicle industrial clusters with Sichuan Province as an example.Based on a closely related theory(i.e.,industrial clusters),this paper aims to analyze the research status of the New Energy Vehicle Clusters at home and abroad by using CiteSpace,an information visualization software.The research questions are:What is the current situation of Sichuan's new energy vehicle industrial clusters?What are the important influencing factors of the cluster development?How do the clusters develop?A systematic research on "cluster status analysis-influencing factors research——development model selection——proposition of new model and construction path" was carried out.First of all,for the question concerning the current status of clusters."Location quotient"was adopted to quantitatively measure the level of agglomeration,Porter's "Diamond Model"theory was used to qualitatively analyze the agglomeration factors,and the "Case Analysis Method" was employed to model and simulate the new energy vehicle industry clusters in Longquanyi District.Secondly,to answer the question regarding the influencing factors of the cluster development,this study took into account the connotation and characteristics of the new energy vehicle industry cluster,and some influencing factors of the development of auto industry clusters and high-tech industrial clusters.After an initial establishment of the index system of the influencing factors,the "Factor Analysis" associated with the "Questionnaire Investigation Method" was adopted to modify and complete the indicator system,which may be considered as an evaluation index system applicable for the selection of new energy vehicle industrial cluster development models in Sichuan Province.As for the development of clusters,by way of summarizing the existing related development models of the new energy vehicle industrial clusters,four development models may be considered suitable for analyzing Sichuan's new energy vehicle industrial clusters,including cooperation-based collaboration network type,the supply chain-based symbiosis type,the industrial chain-based integration type,and the own brand-based axial wheel type.The four models were selected by the entropy weight-TOPSIS method.Based on the quantitative and qualitative analysis results,this paper advanced a new development model for the new energy vehicle industry cluster in Sichuan Province——the "double-chain"-based ecosphere type and its construction path,which could be used to guide the province's exploration for an optimal development model of new energy vehicle industry clusters.
