Since the reform and opening up,along with the rapid development of China’s economy and the rapid growth of foreign trade,China’s port enterprises have experienced nearly 40 years of rapid development,has made remarkable achievements in the world.However,with the expansion of urban scale and the transformation of port functions,Chinese port enterprises,either passively or actively,begin to try to adopt diversified strategies to expa.nd their business scale,so as to improve their operating profits.Throughout the development of domestic and foreign many well-known port enterprises,when a single terminal handling business is difficult to meet the needs of enterprises continue to become bigger and stronger,the diversification strategy can help port enterprises to avoid excessive competition,dissolve the operating risk and enhance market competitiveness,is the inevitable choice for enterprise development to a certain scale.Of course,the diversified strategic choice has both successful experience and failure lessons.At present,Chinese port enterprises are confronted with the double tests of external environment and internal factors,so how to choose and implement diversification strategy to strengthen their core competitiveness is extremely critical.Based on this,the author starts with the practice analysis of diversification strategy of famous foreign port enterprises,combines the characteristics of China’s port enterprises and port area development rules,and tries to construct the analysis framework of diversification strategy choice of port enterprises on the basis of diversification strategy theory.Firstly,the author analyzes and summarizes the main factors and branch factors that influence the diversification strategy choice of port enterprises.Then,the author uses the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to study the weight of various influencing factors,and forms a relatively complete analytical framework.On this basis,the analysis framework is applied to the diversification strategy practice of SIPG,a famous port enterprise in China,to form a useful reference for similar port enterprises in China.Based on the above analysis,the author puts forward that the diversification strategic choice of China’s port enterprises should focus on the development of the main industry,give full play to the advantages of port area resources,and strengthen the core competitiveness of enterprises with the diversification strategy.On the contrary,diversified fields that are less relevant to the main industry and do not have competitive advantages in this field are often at greater risk of failure.The analysis framework of diversification strategy choice of port enterprises constructed in this paper has reference and guiding value for other port enterprises in China,and also helps them consolidate and strengthen their core competitiveness in the implementation of diversification strategy.
