Urban architecture records the context of historical development.Urban development is an organic extension of historical culture and urban spirit.At present,Shanghai still has more than 6 million square meters of Old Town below the second level,scattered in various central urban areas,among which Luwan,Hongkou,Jing'an and other prosperous areas are relatively concentrated.These old-fashioned Lanes are facing the re-transformation of Shanghai's deep urbanization.The renovation process of the old-style Lane is also the process of remolding the urban culture of Shanghai.It will germinate new architectural forms on the ruins of an era's architectural style.Old residential area is one of the areas which contains rich daily,emotional and regional spirit of place.However,the current urban renewal of overthrowing and rebuilding makes it difficult to continue the spirit of place,At the same time,it separates Shanghai's urban culture.Therefore,how to combine traditional culture with modern civilization in Shanghai's urban development will be a maj or issue.Therefore,through on-site investigation and visits to the venues,and consulting historical documents,the author combines the successful cases of old city renovation at home and abroad,according to the main design route of continuing the spirit of the venue and safeguarding the vital interests of residents,will build the city.Building renovation,reducing population density,demolishing some unnecessary buildings,replacing building functions,enriching road system,creating memory nodes,creating diversification of tourism perspective into design methods,restoring the human and economic vitality of the site,reshaping the old Shanghai Lane culture and the urban style of Shanghai in the new era,and creating a happier living space for local residents.
