In this paper,some researches on the evaluation method of effectiveness of non-lethal laser weapons were carried out,and the damage effectiveness was verified by experiments.First,the structure of the human eye and the principle of human eye damage caused by laser were introduced.According to the analysis of laser propagation in space and simplified eyeball,a formula for calculating laser irradiance on retina of the human eye was proposed and the parameters including form of emission,wavelength of laser,intensity of emission,angle of divergence,distance of action,time of action,illumination of ambient of non-lethal laser weapons were identified as basic elements of injury effect's evaluation.Secondly,describing the variation of laser damage probability with irradiance by "S-curve" was defined,mathematical relationship between laser irradiance on retina and damage probability calculated was preliminarily constructed,the criterion of laser damage was defined,and the “injuring effect size” reflecting the ability of weapon damage was proposed according to the analysis of experimental data of rabbit eyes damaged by laser.Thirdly,a test method for efficacy of injuring effect of laser was formulated.By means of building a 532-nm CW laser emission system and the laser radiation experiments on rabbit eyes,feasibility of test method for efficacy and perfomance of injuring effect of laser was verified.The “injuring effect size” was preliminarily measured in the experiments.At last,the index system of effectiveness evaluation and effectiveness evaluation model of non-lethal laser weapons were established by comprehensive application of Analytic Hierarchy Process and comprehensive fuzzy evaluation,and an example was given for evaluation and calculation by combination of qualitative and quantitative indicators,comprehensive application of analytic hierarchy process and comprehensive fuzzy evaluation.
