AIM:To discuss neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES)the effect of preventive measures for deep venous thrombosis in patients undergoing surgery due to benign gynecological disease.METHODS:Selected according to the principle to endanger Caprini risk score for moderate-risk and high-risk patients,170 patients were randomly divided into group NMSE(85 cases)and the control group(85 cases)after obtaining the informed consents.Compression ultrasound was used to diagnose deep venous thrombosis(DVT)during 4-7 days after surgery.Laboratory data regarding blood routine and the drainage after surgery were recorded and analyzed. The characteristics of the patients and the perioperative complications were recorded.RESULTS:Five out of 170 were diagnosed with DVT and one of them was diagnosed with PE,and the total incidence rate of postoperative DVT was 2.9%.There were one DVT cases in the control group of moderate-risk group IPC(1.7%)and four in the control group of high-risk(16%).The patient confirmed with PE was in the control group of high-risk.There were no DVT cases in the group NMSE.There were no significant differences in age, body mass index, intraoperative blood loss and operative time between the two groups(P>0.05).No major pelvic, incision and other hematoma occurred in the high-risk group or the moderate-risk group. There was no significant difference in the average drainage time between the two group s well as the average drainage volume(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelet between the two groups within 48 hours and 7 days after surgery(P?0.05).CONCLUSION:Thromboprophylaxis should be applied for patients undergoing surgery for benign gynecologic diseases, especially in high-risk patients. The application of NMES caneffectively prevent postoperative DVT,and does not increase the risk of postoperative bleeding.
