| The quality of the interpretation of the new words in the TCSL not only affects the quality and efficiency of teaching,but also affects the mastery and application of vocabulary.Quality of vocabulary explanation can directly influence quality and efficiency of teaching.Nowadays,translation of new Chinese vocabularies in TCSL textbooks has become a general research interest,and problems with the translation have been verified.The paper uses a textbook about language and skill-Chinese Tutorial which is widely used at present as the research sample,describes and analyzes the paraphrases in Chinese Tutorial comprehensively and systematically on the basis of exhaustive analysis about corpora through data studies,inductive method and comparative analysis approach.Through the classification of corpora,the way of interpretation this textbook adopts is found:interpretation of synonyms,grammatical notes,application range,attached objects,morpheme annotation,descriptive annotation and transliteration.Among them,interpretations of synonyms is one way that is used widely,accounting for nearly 90 percent.That is because it is simple,direct and it saves space.By comparing English and Chinese meaning of this textbook and combining the context of the text,some deficiencies are found:1.The mode of interpretation is simple;2.Separating itself from the context;3.Presenting too many items;4.Non-equivalent English and Chinese meaning;5.Lacking of connotation instructions;6.Lacking of cultural details;7.Inaccurate paraphrases;8.Not indicating pragmatic information;9.Synonyms;10.Using the different forms of polysemes to express different parts of speech;11.Proofreading errors,in which separating itself from the context and non-equivalent English and Chinese meaning have more deficiencies.The article should combine with the context on the basis of dictionary.According to classroom teaching and study situation of abroad students,the paraphrase of Chinese Tutorial should be revised from above 11 deviancies that are analyzed.Finally,the author puts forwards some suggestions for improving the textbook paraphrases and teaching suggestions for using Chinese Tutorial.In the aspect of the improvements of textbooks,it needs "combining text context","attaching more importance to distinguish the nuance between the English and Chinese meaning","paraphrase should involve the explanation of meaning,usage information and examples","trying to avoid same-translated words and pay more attention to distinguish same-translated words and synonyms",“paying more attention to the contrast between English and Chinese and absorbing experiences from class teaching","compiling corresponding student’s book".In the aspect of teaching suggestions,aiming at three typical deficiencies of this textbook and taking concrete teaching design as the example,starting from the pre-class and after-class.Attach more importance to the correction before class and pay more attention to combine the context during the class.Try to avoid unnecessary bias due to improper English translation.It is hoped that this will promote the textbook compilation of Chinese as a foreign language and vocabulary teaching as well as help abroad students learn Chinese effectively. |
