The calligraphy of Wang Xianzhi has been widely accepted by the calligrapher at that time since the end of the Jin dynasty.Due to Wang Xianzhi was belittled and denounced respectively by two emperors(Liang Wudi and Tang Taizong),his calligraphic recognition degree was gradual declined.After the emperor Tang Gaozong was in power,the old evaluation view to estimate calligraphy of "four famous men"(Zhong Yao,Zhang Zhi,Wang Xizhi,Wang Xianzhi)was gradually replaced by the new evaluation view which was offered by some calligraphers such as Li Sizhen,Zhang Huaiguan base on compared the difference between "ancient and modern".Cursive and style-breaking cursive writing by Wang Xianzhi obtained clarify and explain again.Therefore,the calligraphic status of Wang Xianzhi was gradually revival in the mid-tang dynasty.From the end of the Eastern Jin dynasty to Tang dynasty,Wang Xianzhi's calligraphy received a lot of twists and turns.By means of searching a large of literatures in this period about evaluating Wang Xianzhi's calligraphy,determining the propagation process of his rubbings and following his way of writing,the author does his best to dig the aesthetic qualities of Wang Xianzhi in the eyes of calligraphers in different periods of time,as well as explore the evolution of calligraphy aesthetic idea during this period at the end of Jin dynasty to Tang dynasty.This research will play an important role to study on traditions in Wei and Jin dynasty.
