"Left behind children" has become a special group of contemporary society. They can not enjoy the complete parental affection and lack of normal family communication atmosphere. They also have less sense of security because of long-term stay. These children may take precaution against others because they are not confident, which make them feel anxiety and lead to evasive action in social occasions. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of group hypnosis on social anxiety of left-behind children in junior high schools.A comprehensive sampling method was used to select 681 students from two junior high schools in Rudong County. In this study, these children were investigated, compared and analyzed through SAD scale. Then we used exploratory factor analysis to divide the social anxiety into some categories.Based on social anxiety theory and its categories,a hypnotic intervention program for social anxiety of left-behind children was designed. After investigating, some left-behind children with high hypnotic susceptibility and high anxiety who volunteered to accept the intervention were selected. These children were divided into intervention group and non-intervention group. The intervention group accept eight-time psychological interventions and each time lasted about 50 minutes. The results are as follows:(1)There are significant differences on the anxiety dimension, avoidance dimension and total score between left-behind children and non-left-behind children.(2)For junior middle school's left-behind children, the score of anxiety dimension is obviously different in their father's education degree. The scores of avoidance dimension, anxiety dimension and total are notable different in their mother's education degree.(3)There was no gender difference in the social anxiety among left-behind children in junior middle school. However, there were significant differences in grade, the second and third grade were higher than the first grade.(4)The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that there are four factors may affect left-behind children's society anxiety, they are "anxiety in groups","dislike social occasions","anxiety about the opposite sex" and "anxiety about familiar people and environment".(5)The left behind children with social anxiety in junior high schools can be interfered by group hypnosis, which had a significant effect. After interventions, the total score, the score of society and the score of avoidance were significantly lower than before. Therefore, this research draws the conclusion:there are significant differences in social anxiety between left-behind children and non-left-behind children. The degree of parents'education will affect the social anxiety of left-behind children.Group hypnosis intervention can effectively alleviate the social anxiety of left-behind children.
