People's names have been characterized by their own cultures.With the close contact of different cultures and the mutual influence of different languages,a person may have more than one name.The two-name system is a product of the interaction of multi-national cultures.Malaysia is a country of multi-cultural integration,with Chinese-origin citizens accounting for about 1/3 of the population.The names of Chinese Malaysians usually involve the official name in Latin letters and the Chinese name in Chinese characters,which reflects the cultural characteristics of the country where they live and the deep influence of Chinese culture.Through the study on the structure of Chinese Malaysians' names,the use of Chinese characters and the phonological characteristics,we can better trace the roots and explore the spread of Chinese culture abroad with a long history.At the same time,we can also deeply understand the cultural psychology of Chinese Malaysians and their recognition of Chinese culture.In this paper 1443 Chinese Malaysian students,from 17 Chinese language schools in Sabah,Malaysia,were selected as the study suspects.Literature research,econometric analysis,and questionnaire survey were used as the study method based on sociolinguistics and theoretical linguistics.The linguistic characteristics of the names of Chinese Malaysian students were explored and the factors affecting Chinese names were analyzed.Apart from the sections of introduction and conclusion,the body text is divided into five chapters.The specific contents are as follows:The first chapter is about the main types and special phenomena of names around the world.It focuses on three types of names and gives examples of family names,given names,structural features and special phenomena of each type.The second chapter is an analysis of the two-name system of Chinese Malaysian students in Malaysia.Examples are given to illustrate their Chinese names and structural characteristics,and their official names and structural characteristics respectively.The characteristics of one-to-one match of two-name system are also analyzed,and causes of lack of equivalents between official names and Chinese names.The third chapter is an analysis of the Chinese characters used in Chinese Malaysian students' Chinese surnames and Chinese first names.It is found that most of the surnames were Chen,Huang,and Zhang,and Chinese character show sex characteristics.The fourth chapter is a phonological analysis of Chinese names of Chinese Malaysian students in terms of syllable,rhyme and tone.The phonological characteristics and causes of Chinese names are also analyzed.It is found that there are many initials and finals and rich tone collocation type in Chinese names.The fifth chapter is about the factors affecting Chinese Malaysian students' names.By means of a questionnaire the names of Chinese Malaysian students are studied.SPSS\PC20.software is used to process the data of the survey results and the possible factors affecting Malaysian Chinese students' names are analyzed.The main factors are gender and informal names etc.
