Migrant children enter to city, following their parents, are facing with a huge change of environment.Their adaptation has drawn wide attention from scholars in various fields. If the migrant children cannot adapt well to the new environment, psychological deviation and internal and external problems may occur, which not only affect their own development, but also affect the people around them and even affect the social order. Therefore,no matter for children's own growth or the social stability development,it is great significant to explore the migrant children's problem behavior and their influential factors. This study explores the influence of parenting style on migrant children's problem behavior.Furthermore, this study also examines the mediating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between parenting style and migrant children's problem behavior. In this study,a questionnaire survey was conducted on 417 migrant children in Shanghai with the Child Rearing Practices Report,Self-Perception Profile for Children scale, the Youth Self Report,Child Behavior Checklist and Teacher-Child Rating Scale. This study used multivariate analysis of variances to analyze the difference of demographic variables in parenting style,self-esteem and migrant children's problem behavior. The structural equation model was used to explore the predictive effect of parenting styles and self-esteem on migrant children's problem behavior. Moreover, bootstrap was used to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between parenting style and migrant children's problem behavior. The results show that: First, there is a significant gender difference in parenting style,self-esteem and migrant children's problem behavior.Boys experience father's control more girls, and boys have more external problem behavior than girls.Second, there is a close correlation among parenting styles,self-esteem and migrant children's problem behavior: parental warmth and independence encouragement are positively predictors of migrant children's self-esteem;migrant children's self-esteem can negatively predict the internal problem behavior of migrant children.Parent's warmthand control predict the internal and external problem behavior of migrant children.Self-esteem can negatively predict migrant children's internal problem behavior.Mother's independence encouragement can negatively predict the migrant children's internal problem behavior.Father's warmth can negatively predict the migrant children's external problem behavior.Third,in the migrant children's self report,self-esteem plays a partly mediated role between mother's warmth and migrant children's internal problem behavior, and plays a fully mediated role between the parent's independent encouragement and migrant children's internal problem behavior. In teacher's evaluation,self-esteem plays a partly mediated role between mothers' independent encouragement and migrant children's internal problem behavior, and plays a completely mediated role between father's independent encouragement and migrant children's internal problem behavior. This study enriches the domestic research on the influential factors of problem behavior among migrant children,as well as puts forward suggestions for preventing or reducing the incidence of migrant children's problem behavior, which helps migrant children to better adapt into the new environment and promote the development of their mental health.
