Comparing to the previous one,the farewell poetry in the Tang Dynasty adds more regional writing.Unlike the scenic or the travel poetry, the farewell poetry in the Tang Dynasty picture the scenery and the territorial history via the imagination instead of the immediate life experience.Through reading these poetries, the common impression of a certain region rather than the geographic information will convey to the readers afterward.Taking Jin Xiang region as an example, this dissertation is mainly discussing the characters and generation of the Jin Xiang regional imagination. The main body of the text is separated into four parts.Chapter one will negotiate the imaginary feature of the farewell poetry's regional writing in the Tang Dynasty. The first section points out that this feature is related to the enlarging of the domain, the development of the geographic works and the polite formula in the social situation in the Tang Dynasty.Relying on the evolutionary history of the farewell poetry, the section two presents that two latest qualities of the farewell poetry's regional writing are depicting the scenery on the way and more regional allusion. In the brief summary of this chapter, the reasons why we choose Jin Xiang as the object of study are its essential transport location, numerous topology works and the literary tradition of regional writing.Chapter two focuses on the historical imagination of the Jin Xiang region in the farewell poetry of the Tang Dynasty. From the preference of some particular figures like the scholars of the Chu and the exiling officials like Jia Yi and Wang Can,we can see the fundamental mood is low when the Tang poet imagine this area.As for the aspect of the space,it's apparent that the Tang poets enjoy mentioning about the history of Xiangyang.Relics are the significant historical representation, displaying several famous spots like the Ying City, the Zhu Palace and the tomb of Zhao the emperor in the farewell poetry, there is always some evident fault when the poet imagine about the Jin Xiang region, which can also reflect their ignorance and the stereotype towards this area.Chapter three is about the mythical feature concerning the imagination of the Jin Xiang region in the farewell poetry of the Tang Dynasty. The atmosphere that favors the supernatural beings since antiquity, the special geographic environment and an intact system of myth altogether contribute to this mythical feature.Gao Tang Goddess from two famous fu literature who is frequently showing in the farewell poetry of the Tang Dynasty, enlightening the imagination of Jin Xiang region from the language, the theme and the realm by its mythical character, plot and atmosphere.Besides, deifying the natural environment is another crucial side of this feature, the Cang Wu field, the mountain ghost and the vanilla exhibited in the farewell poetry are the apparent cases. In the last chapter,we will find out the motivation of the Jin Xiang regional imagination and how it disappears. The exterior cause of the imagination is the fear resulted from the innocence about the history and reality of Jin Xiang region.Meanwhile, the literary tradition from the Songs of the Chu along with the collection of Zhao Ming the Prince has directly influenced this imagination in the Tang poetry. The last section respects the narrative tendency from the late-Tang to the Song Dynasty.Taking the farewell poetry of Su Shi as an instance,we will explain that the disappear of the regional imagination in the mid-late Tang Dynasty is not because of the ossification of the mode, but an accomplishment of the transmission from the pre-Tang to the Song Dynasty which turns the emphasis of the lyricism to the narration.
