Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres and Eugène Delacroix are the most important artists of the early 19 th century in France.Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres is one of the most famous exponents of french neoclassicism painting, while Eugène Delacroix is the flag bearer of french romanticism, and Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, known as the Eugène Delacroix,is "the battle between drawing and colour".In fact, the difference between Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres and Eugène Delacroix's painting is not only in Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres' s emphasis on drawing and Eugène Delacroix on colours, but also in the use of perspective. As the pillar theory of realistic painting in the west, perspective is involved in a wide range and contains many contents.Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres and Eugène Delacroix also attach great importance on the use of perspective in painting, and in specific painting, they make use of the perspective with different emphases.First,Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres and the Eugène Delacroix use different ways of looking, and these different "viewing styles" behave differently in "sight","perspective" and "perspective".Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres' s painting is a large-field,small-field-of-view state when the distance is closer,so that Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres' s picture is arranged in a concentrated, orderly way;the Eugène Delacroix is a state of small-angle,large-field of view at a greater distance,so the works of Eugène Delacroix show a grand, sporty atmosphere in the layout.Second, the use of perspective by the two is different.Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres likes to use "parallel perspective" and is an incomplete state of "parallel perspective",where only one or more planes of the cube are represented in a "parallel perspective" state, instead of the "parallel perspective" in the complete state, the effect of visual concentration, balance and stability is achieved. Moreover,Eugène Delacroix prefers "diagonals" and "parallel perspectives" to show the versatility, movement, and complexity of the image.Thirdly,in the representation of the effect of painting space,Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres compressed the image space through a series of special perspective techniques, giving the picture a quiet, static and flat spatial effect;Eugène Delacroix's use of perspective ultimately gives the image a dynamic, deep spatial effect. The different treatments and results of the two perspectives show their pursuit of different artistic ideas. In other words, their different use of perspective is one of the most important reasons why the two artists are unique concerning their painting.Jean AugusteDominique Ingres' s different use of perspective by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres and his Eugène Delacroix has greatly influenced the way the two men painted, the characteristics of these paintings ultimately point to the stylistic features of neoclassicism and romantic art respectively. The static picture effect of Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres' s painting and its stable, concentrated visual effects are characterized by neoclassicism rational and orderly style. The Eugène Delacroix has a sense of movement,as well as varied and complex painting features, which embodies the style of romanticism in pursuit of artistic freedom and emotional expression.
