Abstract/Summary:
Neo-Confucianism,especially the Philosophy of Lu Xiangshan and Wang Yangming, had a profound influence on Chinese philosophy and the development of Chinese culture as a whole.Lu Xiangshan,as the pioneer of the Philosophy of Lu Xiangshan and Wang Yangming, proposed the proposition of "Mind is Priciple" under the reality that Cheng and Zhu assumed the mainstream status. And based on this,Lu Xiangshan built his own philosophical system. This essay attempts to reexamine Lu Xiangshan’s proposition of "Mind is Priciple" from the perspective of Moral entimentalism, trying hard to put forward a new and more reasonable interpretion which is not used in the past. This article is divided into three parts. The first part expounds the historical background of Lu Xiangshan’s "Mind is Priciple".The shortcomings of the imperial examination system and the impetuous style of learning are the historical reasons why Lu Xiangshan put forward the proposition of "Mind is Priciple".The confusion of Zhu Xi’s philosophy on the rationality of human being and the inherent contradiction of his theory is to urge Lu Xiangshan to propose " Mind is Priciple "proposition theory reason. The second part elaborates the old interpretation of the " Mind is Priciple " proposition in Lu Xiangshan in the past.Lu Xiangshan’s interpretation of "Mind" or "Onto-Mind" mainly inherits Mencius’s psychology in pre-Qin,mainly its "four heart",especially "sympathy" or "feeling of sympathy".However.Lu Xiangshan did not explain his "Onto-Mind" further, resulting in many different interpretations of his "Onto-Mind".Mou Zongsan believes that his " Onto-Mind " is the same as Kant’s free will or moral justification, but neglects its original "feeling of sympathy".Laosi Guang believes that its " Onto-Mind " refers to the value of consciousness, but did not explain what is the value of consciousness.Mr.Xu Fuguan introduced the "Book of Arranging" to explain Xiangshan’s "Onto-Mind" and ultimately "Onto-Mind",but did not say what" Onto-Mind"meant.The third part re-interprets Lu Xiangshan’s "Mind is Principle" proposition.(1)The"Onto-Mind" of Lu Xiangshan is actually "Sympathy" and "Heart of compassion" in Mencius, and empathy in the terminology of modern moral psychology. Therefore,"Sympathy" is "feelings of Sympathy" is a kind of Moral Emotion.(2)Lu Xiangshan’s "Reason" actually refers to the reason of man,the reason of ethics, and the principle of reason, which should be reasonable or virtue.According to Zhang Zai,,That is,it is impossible to come from the knowledge of the external experience world.(3)And Lu Xiangshan’s proposition,"mind is principle",is essentially to assert that this can not come from the knowledge of knowledge can only come from the mind of us.(4)According to the above understanding,Lu Xiangshan’s idea of "seeking Onto-Mind" also has a more reasonable explanation:" seeking Onto-Mind " is the empathetic response of the cognitive subject based on the compassion,As well as other emotions)and the external things that cause the empathetic reaction. This process is also a process in which the subject of cognition continuously obscures the material desire or opinion and continuously improves self-cultivation.In essence,Lu Xiangshan’s proposition of "mind is rationality" is mainly a proposition of moral epistemology, which shows the congenital nature of moral knowledge and advocates that moral knowledge ultimately comes from people’s "Onto-Mind","sympathy","empathy".Therefore,his "Mind is Priciple" proposition is also the core proposition of his Moral entimentalism.
