Henan Bantou Music Research

Henan Bantou music is a sheer instrumental ensemble music played by erhu,zither,pipa,sanxian,etc,and it can also be played as a solo by zither,pipa,and sanxian,which is one of the traditional Chinese string music.With its simple and elegant tone,vivid mood and lively personality,the bantou music has a long history and strong local music style.It has high performance and attainment in art.It appeared in the form of pure instrumental accompaniment played before the opening of the playing of Henan major tunes and its name also originated from it.After constant processing and improvement by successive musicians,it was gradually matured,thus it broke away from the attachment to the Henan major tunes and became an independent traditional string music in China.Henan Bantou music can be used as accompaniment music of major tunes,but also as an independent pure instrumental music,appearing in the form of solo or ensemble,which is similar to the musical forms of expression of Jiangnan Sizhu in China.This thesis takes Henan Bantou music as the research object,adopts literature research method,practice method,field investigation method,comprehensive analysis method and other methods,from the origin,music structure,ideological and cultural connotation and aesthetic value,inheritance and In-depth research on development and other aspects aims to conduct a comprehensive review and exploration of Henan Bantou music.With regard to the origin of the bantou music,according to the information currently available,the author believes that Bantou music originated from the Northern Song Dynasty in Bianjing city(now known as Kaifeng in Henan province),and gradually became popular in the Henan area after the middle of Ming Dynasty.It was shaped up on the whole during the reign of Qing Emperor Qianlong and reached its luminous peak in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.During the process of development,Bantou music absorbed the Bianliang little tune of Northern Song Dynasty and the the folk tune of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.It was seen in the public with the famous Henan major tunes during the reign of Ming Emperor Chongzhen.Bantou music is popular mainly in Nanyang,Kaifeng,Luoyang,Qinyang,Xuchang,and other regions in Henan province,especially in the Nanyang region.It develops most prosperously in Nanyang,which has now become the dissemination center of the Bantou music.With regard to the music structure of Henan Bantou music,academic studies have unifiedly concluded that:Henan Bantou music belongs to "Eight-Board" piece of music,owing to its structure and melody tone are derived from Chinese traditional instrumental music name "The eight piece" and its various variants,the whole song a total of eight phrases,68 beats.This thesis discusses the article from the following five aspects:First,explain the reasons for writing and research methods and originality of the thesis in detail.Secondly,analyzes the origins of the completion of Henan Bantou music from the geographical,cultural and folk aspects,discusses the cultural background of the formation of Henan Pantou music and summarizes its relationship with Henan major tunes and traces its historical origins.Thirdly,it begins with two aspects of the performance of musical instruments and melody characteristics of Henan Bantou music,and explores the basic music structure of Henan Bantou music.One is to introduce in detail the types and performance forms of musical instruments and summarize the style characteristics of the instrumental ensembles.The second is to analyze the tonality scale and plate structure of the plate-head music through specific spectrum examples,and analyze the features of the dialect dialects in Henan dialects.Fourth,begins with the music themes of Bantou music and the contents to be expressed,and discusses the musical cultural connotation of Henan Bantou music.Fifth,analyzes the status of Henan Bantou music,analyzes the reasons of its decline,and finds solutions to them,so that the Bantou music can be inherited and developed.It is hoped that this thesis will enable people to have a comprehensive and deeper understanding of Henan's Bantou music,a Chinese traditional instrumental music.At the same time,it also hopes that this valuable musical piece will be well protected and inherited in the modern period and will be able to develop better.
