As an "invented" marvellous spectacle,tourism performance has become one of the codes of globalization.It re-enchants place and continues to attract thousands of tourists from different places to come to experience,so that it becomes the city's tourism brand and plays a positive role in the tourism development of city.Recently,textual representation has become a theoretical perspective of tourism research in the core journals of the cultural geography of British and American geography.It is not a natural process,but highly selective,and what a particular text highlight and omit is a ulterior motive coding process.However,most research on textual representation uses epics,movies and travels as study text,and the visual text tourism performance is less involved.In fact tourism performance has great significance both to the construction of the place and to the placeness construction of the person.Focusing on it would make the placeness research through textual representation more diverse.Hereby,this thesis starts from "place" in the perspective of humanism,focuses on the Lijiang which is a tourist destination with high concentration of tourism performances,distinctive local culture and active tourism market,and takes the romantic show of Lijiang as a specific research object.Based on the participatory observation and in-depth interview,using placeness theory,textual reproduction theory and performance of space theory,the thesis tries to explore the following questions:(1)What are the placeness symbols which is represented in the tourism performance by the tourism performance producer?And what's the difference between the tourist and producer on placeness cognition?(2)How does the tourism performance producer construct its own placeness through the performance?(3)Under the impact of globalization,why does the tourism performance producer construct their placeness in this way?Finally,the following conclusions come:(1)Tourism performance can represent the placeness from its unique natural environment,humanistic physical entities,historical events and folk customs.(2)The place symbol represented in the tourism performance is accepted by the tourist,but the placeness cognition between the tourist and producer is different.(3)The birth and development of tourism performance is highly correlated to the the producer's placeness construction.And the producer's construction of placeness shows three points,"imagination of placeness","practice of placeness","reconstruction of placeness"during the three stages of production.(4)Under the background of globalization,performance of space has a very important influence on the placeness construction of tourism performance producer,while text is not only the basis and content of performance of space,but also plays an important role in placeness construction.The innovation points of the thesis:(1)From the perspective of research theory,focusing on textual representation and performance of space is a research perspective supplement of tourism performance and placeness.(2)From the research content,regarding the tourism performance as visual text,and analyzing the placeness which is represented by the text,and accordingly explore the placeness construction of the producer.It is a research content expansion of tourism performance and placeness.(3)From the research method,using textual analysis and grounded theory to make an empirical analysis to placeness construction of the tourism performance producer.Through empirical case study,this thesis begins to pay attention to tourism performance's text significance and place construction significance,and studies the relationship between tourism performance,product producer and placeness by using textual representation as the breakthrough point.It provids placeness research the new perspectives and methods,and uses performance of space theory to interpret the placeness construction,in order to explore the influence of tourism performance producer's placeness construction on the product and the place under the background of economic globalization,the impact of modernity,as well as the overflow of national tourism performance,and to emphasize the importance of representation modes to provide some key points for the development and reconstruction of urban space in the future.
