Research On The Miaoshan Culture Of Guanyin At Xiangshan Temple In Pingdingshan

Kuan-yin beliefs originated from maritime rescue myths in the coastal areas of ancient India.Ever since Kuan-yin entered China from India in the Han Wei dynasties,which opened the development and evolution of its localization of feminization.The legend of Miaoshan originated from the Xiangshan temple of Pingdingshan city is the most representative of the central plains region Kuan-yin origin story and it is derived from the integration of Indian buddhist justice and local traditional ethical culture.The legend of Miaoshan is the node of the process in Kuan-yin sinicization.Before that it is the sinicization of India's Kuan-yin belief and then is China's localization Kuan-yin belief.The biography of Guanyin bodhisattva of Xiangshan temple which is written by the government is the earliest historical relics,and it marked the consummation of Kuan-yin localization and feminization.The Kuan-yin has developed from the India god of a rescue shipwreck into a woman with a spirit of supreme filial piety.This is also the ionization process of constantly enriched.In order to pursue the Kuan-yin belief culture trajectory in China,and deeply analyze the Kuan-yin culture connotation of The Xiangshan temple of Pingdingshan city,this thesis takes the Miaoshan legend as a starting point and uses the analysis,comparison and participant observation method.The main content includes the following five parts.The first part is the introduction.It mainly introduces the research background,theoretical significance,practical significance,main research methods and the provisions and instructions for the relevant issues involved in this thesis.The second part firstly overviews the sinicization of Kuan-yin and presents the important position in the process of the sinicization of the Xiangshan temple of Pingdingshan city.Secondly this thesis analyzes the space-time coordinates of Xiangshan temple and excavates historical documents to trace the Kuan-yin cultural origin of Xiangshan temple.The third part based on the wide spread legend of the Miaoshan becoming Buddha,by participating and observing the Xiangshan temple sacrificial ceremony activities,and analysis of the localization of Kuan-yin belief,especially the regional characteristicsThe fourth part analyzes the causes of gender change in Kuan-yin by through the objective and subjective.Political factors,the background of the times,and social culture are the external motivations of the generating of The Miaoshan legend.Female traits,female belief psychology and Chinese traditional concept of filial piety are internal strengths of the female personification of Kuan-yin.The fifth part is the social value of Kuan-yin culture of the Xiangshan Temple of Pingdingshan city.Kuan-yin culture of Pingdingshan as an important part of the whole Buddhist culture has the universal value,moral value and maintaining value in carrying forward and developing the core values of socialism.The conclusion part summarizes the progress of Kuan-yin Chinesization.It points out that Kuan-yin which has a huge social value is a symbol of truth,goodness and beauty that surpasses the times,regions and even beliefs.Whenever we must uphold and promote the great cultural spirits of Kuan-yin.
