During the transformation of modern cities in Chongqing's old city,too many buildings and streets were demolished.After the demolition,Chongqing was a modern metropolis and lost the taste of Chongqing's old streets.After years,we only passed.Pictures and memories to trace the past of Chongqing,new and old alternatives lead to thinking of loss and gain,this article tried to get some inspiration through the animated short film "Pickers",whether the samples of urban norms must be destroyed to destroy the streets to display the modern style of the city."Pickers" describes a scavenging old man who uses magical realism to reproduce the city of memory in the eyes of the old man in the process of walking through the streets.Although Old Street is old,the bricks and tiles are the accumulation of time,the traces of years,perhaps,the real Old Street is the carrier of a city's soul.Once it is demolished,the carrier is gone and the city's spirituality is gone.The purpose of this article is to discuss the use of magical realism in the creation of The Wasteland Picker to show that the New Old City hosts the same urban culture.The coexistence of the two is not a contradiction.
