Hu Zi,who was born at the end of Northern Song Dynasty,experienced vicissitude in his life.At the beginning of Southern Song Dynasty,his father Hu Shunzhi was killed by Qin Hui.Then he secluded in the Brook Tiao in Huzhou in northwestern Zhejiang Province during the familial mourning.At that time,regretting about the insufficiency of The Compilation of Notes on Classical Poetry written by Ruan Yue,Hu Zi collected a great number of criticism on poetry to compile The Clump Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao.It includes 49 volumes of notes and more than 170 scattered notes,which are known as The Poetic Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao.Although there was somebody editing them into a book,that book has been lost to the world.On the basis of previous researches,the author writes this thesis for further study on this great work.This thesis consists of six parts.Introduction sketches the previous study on The Poetic Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao.Three kinds of versions are compared to define the object of study.Chapter one introduces the background of The Poetic Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao.Some political and cultural factors such as the lifting of the ban on political parties and poets' exile,and his life experience such as his father's death and his moving to Brook Tiao are taken into consideration.Chapter two focuses on the analyses of poetry and poets in The Poetic Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao.This chapter can be subdivided into three parts.Firstly,the author of this thesis classifies other critics' analyses of poetry into seven types according to their content.Secondly,defects and virtues of these analyses are revealed.Thirdly,the author of this thesis compares Hu Zi's analyses with other critics' to demonstrate Hu Zi's thoughts of textual criticism:poems are identical to Ci poetry.Chapter three discusses Hu Zi's thoughts of Ci poetry contained in The Poetic Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao.In terms of genre,Hu Zi thinks poems and Ci poetry are homologous and he praises Ci style highly.With respect to the style of Ci poetry,Hu Zi advocates the refined but belittles the popular.At the same time,he enjoys both hardness and softness and pursues diversity.From the perspective of the creation of Ci poetry,Hu Zi propses that the content should be in accordance with the reality,the language should be fluent,terse and precise,and the structure should be proper.These proposition are greatly influenced by his poetics.Chapter four explores the historic values and status of The Poetic Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao.Its values concerning Ci poetry can be verified from both empirical and interpretative perspectives.It can exert great effects on many research fields,like the edition and collation of Ci poetry as well as the study on poets,Ci poetry,poetics and the history of Ci poetry.Its historic status can be demonstrated from comparasion between this one and other poetic notes.The Poetic Notes Collected by the Fishing Recluse of the Brook Tiao is a great work with abundant content and great influence.Conclusion reviews the previous chapters,summarizes research meanings,limitations and problems of this thesis and discuss the possibility of further study.
