There were a group of outstanding and famous poets in Guizhou province in Ming and Qing Dynasty, such as Yue Qijie,Xie Sanxiu,Tian Rong,Sun Yingao,Yang Wencong, etc. There were about 400 collections of poetry of different kinds and about600 men of literature and writing in Guizhou province after Qing Dynasty. The unprecedented golden age of Han literature in Guizhou came into being.Wu Zhongfan, known as the first man of Qianyang poetry, was a pioneer of Guizhou poetics. His life was filled with twists and turns. He was gifted but his aspirations were difficult to be fulfilled. He valued himself as a poet and devoted to studies and poetry. His poetic creation and personality exerted an influence in Guizhou and even in China.Wu Zhongfan was contented in poverty and devoted to things spiritual. He loved nature and idyllic life.In his middle age,he was awakened to learn from Tao Yuanming and in his later life,he found peace of mind. His poems focus on his concerns about his country and people. He was obstinate and unruly and reluctant to be against his wills. He was contented in poverty and he adhered to his ideals with peace of mind. The thesis aims to analyze Collections of Bizhou of Wu Zhongfan from his life, content of his poems, artistic characteristics, and poetic origin. The first chapter describes Wu Zhongfan's life story, creation introduction, and seclusion in later life, which generally constructs cognitive system of Wu Zhongfan. The second chapter focuses on his poems.Scenic poems express praise to natural scenic areas during his tour and nostalgia in his stay in strange places.Pastoral poems are description of his life after seclusion. They are close to his life with simplistic and natural language and beautiful and elegant style.Poems chanting things express his ambition with nature and show recollections of life.Realistic poems are another highlight of his poetry. They reflect unsettled life in war eras, and describe cruelty of war and hardships of civilians and the poet shows his concerns about his country and people. The thirdchapter distills artistic characteristics of Wu's poems from language, rhetoric and diction. The overall artistic characteristics are mainly natural simplicity, free expressions of his feelings, and a fusion of feelings with the natural setting.Wu Zhongfan pays attention to description of natural landscape, humanistic landscape, and idyllic landscape to combine subjective emotions with objective scenes to achieve outstanding artistic state of “feelings in landscape and landscape in feelings”.The fourth chapter analyzes Wu Zhongfan's poetic origins. He learned from and imitated Du Fu to focus on darkness of society and hardships of common people.Though similar with Du Fu's realistic poems,Wu Zhongfan's poems are also unique in writing styles. In his middle age and later life,he inherited and accepted Tao Yuanming's poems and imitated Tao's writing style of pastoral poems to show his pursuit and admiration for Tao Yuanming.Similar with Jingling poetry,Wu's poems reflected his solitary life, far from the madding crowd to pursue spiritual serenity.Wu Zhongfan's poetic style is natural, simple and fluent. It is related with contents and language, and it cannot separate from the poet's personality and his indifference to fame and fortune.Wu Zhongfan's poetry generally represents “natural”beauty, and heroic and simplicity with passions in natural freshness.
