As the third peak in the history of detective fiction in the world,there is no doubt about the value and status of Japanese mystery novels.As it were,Japanese mystery fiction is a kind of formulaic literature.Although the narrative style and story details are different in different works,their narrative discourse,content,plot and function are in common.The focus of this thesis is not on the personality of a writer or a work,but on the generality and rules of different kinds of mystery novels in narrative discourse and plot characters.In terms of research methods,This paper is influenced by Russian formalism scholars Propp's,Propp selects 100 Russian folk tales to research,and the author selected 50 representative Japanese reasoning novels as the sample of the study.Based on the relevant theories of contemporary classical narratology,on the one hand,about the perspective of narrative discourse,this paper analyzes the narrative features from three aspects of narrative fiction,narrator and narrative time.,on the other hand,on the story level,the Japanese mystery novels are divided into four stages,and 16 classic plot functions and 5main characters are summed up.Finally,combined with the above research on narrative and story,two main narrative modes in Japanese mystery novels are summarized:The directional type of mistory and the directional type of reality.And it concludes the unique aesthetic value of Japanese mystery novels.
