In ancient Chinese novels, there are many supernatural and strange stories. And those stories are expressed in different ways such as Chih-kuai and Ch'uan-ch'i.The narrative mode on those mystery stores has experienced a gradual development process, which is reflected in the differences of the same kind of novels. This thesis aims to explore the development process of this narrative mode centering on Sou Shen Ji and Peixing Chuanqi. The development is reflected in four aspects.First, the elements that make up the plot are gradually improved, and the story structure develops from a single-line structure to a multi-line structure, thus increasing the length of the novel. And the way of creation changes from recording to narrating, which contributes to the changes of plot, structure and other text forms.Second, heterogeneous images gradually have humanized characteristics and the human images gradually have the supernatural characteristics. Both of them carry the function of showing the singularity of the story.Third, the "Second World" of heterogeneous images is gradually established, which eventually replaces the "First World" of human images and becomes the main narrative time and space of stories.Fourthly, supernatural and strange stories follow the narrative mode of myths and legends with strangeness of event association, which was gradually reconstructed to the mode with specific characters as the center and integrating characters' characters, environmental background and other conditions.
