There is a close and complicated connection between trauma experience and director’s creation,which is an important clue to explore the director’s creative motivation and performance.As a well-known film director at home and abroad,Lee’s traumatic experience in life has a profound and indelible impact on his life perception and work creation.Based on the theory of trauma,this paper analyzes how Lee’s traumatic experience is formed and how it is reflected in his film works.Finally,it discusses the significance of the image expression of this traumatic experience to Lee’s redemption.Introduction: mainly composed of three parts,first of all,the reasons for the topic and significance of the elaboration,secondly,analyzes the relevant research results of Ang Lee’s works so far.Finally,the concept of trauma experience and image redemption used in this paper is defined.Chapter one: dig deeply from three angles of patriarchal family,social life and culture,and analyze the cause of Lee’s trauma experience.Under the patriarchal family,the father authority can not be ignored to Lee’s spiritual impact.The "lonely" life experience in social life also brings a certain wound mark to the mind.The awkward cultural differences between mainlanders and foreigners are also affecting Lee’s psychology in the process of imperceptibility.The above three aspects are the main cause of Lee’s traumatic experience.The second chapter is to analyze the performance of Lee’s traumatic experience in his films.Lee,unable to escape the trauma situation,recounts the traumatic experience over and over again in his work.Father-son relationship and family are two important branches of the expression of Lee’s rebellious motif.In reality,the image of a patriarchal family and an authoritative father has given him an even more severe impression of trauma,and "children" are no longer blindly subordinate to "father."
