The broadcast of “Empress Wu Mei Niang” at the end of 2014, sets off the image of history of women in the viewing screen and comes into people's entertainment and cultural vision. Being the only female emperor in China's history, empress wu's legendary life has been constantly onto the screen by many directors and screenwriters. Meanwhile, her female image has been developed and reconstructed along with the changes of time and social culture's development.TV series as a mass culture of the 20 th century are in the ascendant. With the continuously improvement of people's living standard, social development gradually transit to the era of mass consumption culture. Under such background, TV series became an important art form to meet people's spiritual and entertainment needs. While in recent years, this art form which mainly presenting female's life in harem continue to rise, accounted for almost half of the television screen. TV series mainly in history as a narrative art, on one hand connect the history, on the other hand to be a metaphor of reality. It is also due to the impossible of completely restore history, the construction of historical figures doesn't fully respect the history. There is a distance about reality between TV series and history. And this sense of distance comes from the writers' self-emotional imagination, cultural imagination, historical imagination and gender imagination under the influence of era culture and social ideology. This article will analyze the phenomenon of cultural spread in detail in the first and third part in Chapter one.Based on the popular again of empress Wu's classic female image in screen, the author studies several relevant historical materials and articles, and selects some wonderful TV works in which Wu as an outstanding heroine to analyze her female image specifically. The first category was summarized in the second part of Chapter one, then was discussed at large in chapter two, three and four. In chapter two, the author sets “Secret History of Empress Wu” as an example to analyze Wu's female image that is the one of Queen's supreme power by describing her affairs to persuade the state power and competition in her three life periods that played by three female stars. Chapter three chooses nowadays most controversial TV series “Empress Wu Mei Niang”as a specific object, it describes another type of Wu who was ruthless and vicious. This image was summed up as a virgin image awakened by love. In this chapter, the article highlights the Wu's yearning for true love which subverts the people's awareness of traditional thinking in the lust for Wu's impression. Also, it analyses the reason of its popular, that is to build up a positive value image and cater for people's ideas about female image. In chapter four, the author analyses the “Palace of Desire” directed by a female director about its modern female image on independence. According the theory of feminist and cultural poetic, it analyses an Devanagari female image with the courage to break the shackles of patriarchal discourse system and to fight for gender liberation and independence. And also analyses its behind cultural connotations that constructs a new era of cultural color image of the role of female. Chapter five is the summary of the article from the three aspects:gender and political power, gender and physical desire, gender and love, showing the modern construction of empress Wu's female image in screen which has great impression on modern cultural value. The last chapter is the conclusion part, the author expresses the outlook of social gender construction and cultural construction about classic female image in history in the future TV series.
