"Experiencing Chinese Elementary Course" and the "New Concept Chinese" are two sets of comprehensive textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The former is the first part of a series of advanced textbooks published by the Higher Education Press.It is suitable for all kinds of foreigners who are learning Chinese.The latter is a new generation of textbooks from Peking University.It is very suitable for short-term Chinese textbooks,overseas Chinese learning materials and self-learning materials.At present,nobody has conducted comparative studies on two sets of textbooks.This paper makes a detailed comparative study on the texts,vocabulary,grammar and practice of the two sets of textbooks,summarizes their respective characteristics,points out the shortcomings of the two sets of textbooks,and puts forward suggestions for the corresponding textbooks.We hope to provide some help for the use of teaching materials and the writing of similar textbooks.In the compilation of textbooks,the "Experiencing Chinese Elementary Course" only has the style of conversational body.The style and genre are not as rich as "New Concept Chinese";the length of the text of "Experiencing Chinese Elementary Course" and the average number of sentences per lesson are more than the "New Concept Chinese",the text is more difficult overall.The total number of new words in both sets of textbooks needs to be increased,and there are problems in that the vocabulary rate is too low,the proportion of super vocabulary is large,and the interpretation of new words is inaccurate.Relatively speaking,the interpretation of the words "New Concept Chinese" is more comprehensive and accurate,and the "Experiencing Chinese Elementary Course" has a greater difficulty level.Both sets of textbooks have problems with too many grammar points and the grammar points of both levels of A and B are lower than the grammar outline."Experiencing Chinese Elementary Course" uses formulas,tables and other means to display the grammatical structure,concise and clear,systematic and comprehensive;"New Concept Chinese" mainly uses pictures to create situations,through sentence substitution to let students perceive grammar,interesting,but the explanation of knowledge points lack systematic.Both sets of textbooks need to increase the total amount of exercises;the "Experiencing Chinese Elementary Course" needs to increase the number of usability and comprehension questions,enhance the interest,Chinese characters and phonetic exercises need to run through the textbooks,the title of the "New Concept Chinese" needs to be more complete,and the voice practice section needs to be separated from the voice explanation.
