After Beethoven put the symphony creation to the zenith in the early 19 th century,the Romanticists not only posed to the yearnings for its "greatness",but also the psychological barrier which was daunting and difficult to overcome.This directly led to the emergence of the "Symphony Crisis" in the 1830 s.Many composers have explored the inheritance and innovation of symphony in different levels.Schumann's symphony was born in this particular historical context.He provided new possibilities for the development of symphony through unique creation.This thesis takes Schumann's Symphony No.4 as the research object,mainly considering its special creative background,distinct structural form and language style.Through the text of music analysis got a conclusion that the uniqueness of language and music construction techniques of Schumann's Symphony No.4,and then deduced the creative thinking behind based on them.While Schumann adhering to the classical tradition,he is different from Beethoven's creative thoughts that expresses "grand narrative proposition" on Symphony.Schumann mainly expresses his personal romantic feelings,this kind of practice inevitably leads to creative thinking that only comply with "privateness",and the structural form of "privateness".Therefore,the thesis begins with Schumann's different social and cultural environment and creative version as the background.The article takes Schumann's innovative development of symphony as the core clue,and discuss the music text analysis of Symphony No4.as the specific content to concluded that the expression of creative thoughts of this symphony.The thesis hoping to make up for the lack of domestic research on Schumann's Symphony No.4 in D minor.
