A Report On The Practice Of Chinese-English Translation Of The Ethics Work "The Essentials Of Chinese Traditional Morality" (Li Des)

The translated text selected by the author is the essay in the ethical book The Key Terms of Chinese Traditional Ethics and Morality.The Chinese Traditional Morality is an ethical work,which contains the basic meaning of Chinese traditional ethics and its evolution and its enlightenment to future generations.In the process of translation,the author analyzed the language characteristics and the problems and difficulties.One the one hand,the author summarized a variety of meanings of Li(principle)and Yu(desire)and the translations of Li(principle)and Yu(desire)by famous scholars and sinologists.Finally,based on these translations and the author' s own understanding and analysis,the author proposed different translation methods and strategies of these two ethical items in different sentences and contexts.On the other hand,the author found that the text contains a large amount of classical Chinese text,so the language is very concise and it uses many four-character words.The author summarized and classified these four-character words,which are four-character of coordination structure and four-character of partial structure.The author summarized various translation methods and strategies of four-character words of these structures to provide reference for researchers and practitioners in the field of translation in the future.
