The Viewing And Visualization Of Thangka

Today's Thangka has gradually gained people's attention,and its economic,collection,aesthetic and other attributes have become prominent,but it has gradually drifted away from its original function.Statue-like Thangka is the most widely-used kind which has the largest quantity with the most typical religious style as well among all kinds of Thangka.This type of Thangka not only has a unique aesthetic value but also carries the religious mission of Tibetan Buddhism.By reading a large number of Thangka images,studying Thangka and Tibetan Buddhism thought research materials,interviewing Thangka painters and practitioners,the author collected materials from the three aspects to study and explore Thangka's view and visualization.This paper focuses on the interpretation of the statue-like Thangka from the perspective of Tibetan Buddhism practice,and elaborates on Thangka's process of view,imagery and the changes in the use of Thangka images under the intervention of new technologies.Then,it analyzes and compare the thoughts of visualization and "Woyou".Finally,the author puts forward the conjecture,the thought of "Woyou" is very likely to come from the experience of visualization.
