Research On The English Translation Of The Imagery Of The Parting Poems In Tang Dynasty From The Perspective Of Untranslatability

China traditionally has been a nation of poetry since ancient times.Chinese poetry,like a magnificent and wonderful flower,blooms in the Chinese literary world.It has exerted a far-reaching influence for thousands of years,and its charm is incomparable to any other literary works.Tang poetry,as a bright pearl in Chinese poetry,belongs to the cultural heritage of all mankind and occupies an extremely important position in the world literary world.Its translation studies are conducive to spreading Chinese traditional culture,enriching other languages and constructing poetics of culture.In recent years,Tang poetry translation has been employed different theories to be analyzed and explored from different perspectives,which broaden readers' horizons and enrich the connotations of poetry translation.The key to translating poetry lies in the translation of images,of which affects the communication in the original poem.In order to correctly appreciate Tang poetry,it is necessary to realize traditional aesthetic care for its image.However,there is a huge difference between Chinese and western cultures and languages which implies that there must exist untranslatability between both two languages.To translate Chinese classical poetry into English properly,it is even more difficult for the target readers to enjoy the benefits of Chinese classical poetry as well as the original poetry readers.Therefore,on the basis of the theories on untranslatability,this paper selects an important subject of poetry-farewell poetry as the entry point for research and analysis.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,and elaborates the research background,purpose,significance and the framework of this paper;the second chapter systematically sorts out the theories on untranslatability,starting from home and abroad;the third chapter reviews the development of imagery and Chinese and western farewell poetry focusing on the basic situation of Tang farewell poetry;the fourth chapter is the main part of this paper.Based on the previous chapters on Tang farewell poetry and the untranslatability theories,the compensation strategies are put forward to better advance the exchange of Chinese and foreign poetry and culture;the final chapter concludes the previous chapters and points out the significance and value of this paper on the research of related issues,as well as the limitations and future research directions.
