Meng Wentong's Study Of Confucianism Thoughts After 1949

In 1949,great changes took place in China's social politics,resulting in drastic changes in both ideology and academic industry.During this period,the development of Confucian Classics in the Qing dynasty experienced an unprecedented depress.In particular,the academic resources of Chinese universities began to be reorganized after the department adjustment in 1952.After the republic of China,the academic circle integrated and reconstructed under the guidance of the new national ideology.Meng Wentong is the most famous scholar of classics since modern China.His thought of the Confucian classics has gone through the period of the republic of China.The purpose of this paper is to investigate the thought of Confucian classics after 49 years of Meng Wentong.Firstly,re-explanation “ Uncrowned King” and “ Revolution ” of Confucian Classics;Second,expound ideal political system of Confucian classics.Through the investigation,I believe that the Confucian Classics thought after 49 years of Meng Wentong has some changes compared with before,but it still maintains the adherence of Confucian Classics.His thoughts reflected changes of historical background in his academic career.
