The book of HuSanxing annotated TongJian is rich in content and broad in quotation. It can be contrasted with the YanShigu's annotations of HanShu and the ShiJiSanJiaZhu which could be used in the aspects of emendations and the textual criticism and has important historical data value for the purpose of collating and textual research. The version of HuSanxing seen in the period of HuZhu's writing may be more complete than the ShiJi and the HanShu of the present one.If the contents of its notes and references are compared with the annotation of the ShiJi and the HanShu,there will be considerable differences between the notes and characters in order to prepare for collation. At the same time, the old notes cited by Hu Sanxing are related to each other and supplement each other. One of the major features is that HuSanxing's annotations quoted from the ShiJi and the HanShu have the habit of changing the words which from the ShiJi and the HanShu when they are used. That is,on the basis of unchanged literary meaning, the contents of the book's notes are added, deleted and supplemented above the four books to make more clearer on their meanings. The methods of conversion,or the deletion of large paragraphs of sentences, sketches,or the replacement of individual words Change, are not rare in the book. This paper will also focus on this point, and distinguish and study the contents of the old notes of HuSanxing's annotation of the ShiJi and the HanShu in order to provide some reference for the collation of the three books of the TongJian, the ShiJi and the HanShu.
