Fan Lian,born in 1540,Songjiang Huating(now Shanghai).His character is proud,straightforward,cynical,and not fawn on the dignitaries.He took the imperial examination many times,but did not pass,so he wrote books in seclusion.It is a pity that many of his books have been lost.Today,there are only two books,Yun Jian Ju Mu Chao and Selection and Annotations of Du Fu's Metrical Poetry.In the mid-to-late period of the Ming Dynasty,due to the impact of the commodity economy,the social habits have undergone unprecedented changes.Fan Lian wrote the note novel Yun Jian Ju Mu Chao to faithfully record the social conditions of Yunjian County(Shanghai)where he lived.With a keen eye,Fan Lian had an insight into the changes of the social situation,conerned about the fate of the people and the country,and exposed the ugly acts of corrupt officials in a spicy and satirical language.Nowadays,the note novel has become one of the important literaries for studying the social customs of the late Ming Dynasty,and it has a very high historical value.Fan Lian's Selection and Annotations of Du Fu's Metrical Poetry is a very rare version in Ming Dynasty.Now only know that the Japanese Cabinet Library has a collection of this book,suspected of only existing copy.What I see as a copy of it is also very rare.This book belongs to a selection of five and seven-character version,with 562 five-character luti poems,150 seven-character poems,6 five-character guti poems,and a total of 718.The volume is very large.The annotations are simple and concise,easy to understand,and very suitable for beginners.After repeated verification,most of the five-characters came from Zhao Pang,and most of the seven-characters were from the pseudo-Yu Ji,which can be described as the loyalty of Zhao and Yu(Fan Lian,Introduction to Selection and Annotations of Du Fu s Metrical Poetry.The following two quotations are the same,no longer mark the source).Secondly,the most of from Shan Fu's Du Du Shi Yu De.However,the name and provenance were not pointed out and only slightly modified.Self-notes are mixed with others-notes and are not easy to distinguish.At the end of the introduction,Fan wrote In 1611,on January 15th,written by Fan Lian,a 72-year-old man from Yunjian County,so this book was written in Fan Lian's later years.And Fan Lian said that he has a son who is very intelligent,but he died.And some people are sad for him,Fan said I rely on Du Fudu to inherit,not relying on my son.The words are full of emotions,which makes people lament.The paper is divided into introductions and the first,second and third chapters.The first chapter is Fan Lian and the background of this book.A brief introduction to Fan Lian's life and his works,in addition to Selection and Annotations of Du Fu s Metrical Poetry,focusing on its surviving note novel Yun Jian Ju Mu Chao,combined with the book to analyze Fan Lian's thought personality.Combining the historical materials of the Ming Dynasty and the research monographs of scholars,this paper analyzes the background of this book,from the three aspects of political corruption and bad social atmosphere,the tendency of selecting officals by stereotyped eigut-legged essay writing,the atmosphere of academic and the studyof Du Fu's poety in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.The second chapter of content,the features and method of this book.The content of Fan Lian's annotations mainly includes:first,annotate people and things;second,annotate allusions and system;third,annotate current events and Du Fu's whereabouts;fourth,sub-units to annotating the main ideas of poetry;fifth,annotate artistic technique of Du Fu's poetry.The features of annotating the poetry includes:first,the nature of the collection is clear;second,it is simple,concise and easy to understand.The methods of annotating the poetry includes:first,annotating the poetry for Bixing;second,annotating the poetry for Yiyinizhi.The third chapter is the value and deficiency of Fan Lian's annotations.The values include:literature compilation value and literature revision value.Insufficiencyies includes:first,the name and provenance are not pointed out and self-notes are mixed with others-notes and are not easy to distinguish;second,the annotations are too simple;third,there are historical errors and misunderstandings.Fourth,it is far-fetched for using Bixing.
