China's Vietnam War films reached a creative climax in the 1980 s,and many excellent films emerged.However,due to the influence of various political reasons,Vietnam War films stopped in 1989.According to the form of time axis,Vietnam War movies can be clearly divided into three distinct creative periods: early,middle and late.Most Vietnam War films created in the early 1980 s showed distinct political propaganda color.The distortion of plot and even performance seriously affected the quality of the films.With the further relaxation of literary and artistic policies since the reform and opening up,the mid-term creation shows more individualized colors,and has made artistic breakthroughs in showing soldiers' love and hatred,humanistic care and so on.Due to the impact of entertainment,the creation of commercial war movies began to appear in the real sense.However,due to the advent of the commodity economy era and the change of cultural needs of modern practice,the upsurge of creation on the theme of Vietnam's self-defense and counterattack war has gradually declined.Starting from the staged development of Chinese Vietnam War movies,social themes,figure maps and narrative space,this paper will make a panoramic interpretation of Vietnam War movies,and explore the political beliefs and pluralistic cultural forms in the transitional period of the Chinese era from the Vietnam War movie landscape in the 1980 s to the 1990 s.
