Students often encounter new words in the process of learning and enjoying second language texts and articles.The first way to find this situation is to search from the dictionary,but it is difficult to promote reading ability in a short period of time,so we must actively pay attention to second language articles and There is a more common and effective method for the application of text reading in the text,which is to use the method of guessing words to carry out daily second language reading.This paper mainly refers to the research situation in this aspect as a reference.The Nigerian international students are the basic reference targets,and the surveys are carried out by using common forms and methods,such as through experiments,or through comparison,and through research goals.Interviews and questionnaires to obtain research data,and the research data obtained can fully reflect the methods used by Nigerian students in encountering new words,mainly based on the dictionary,and they gradually pay attention to the way of daily use of guessing words.Up,and different levels of Nigerian students have some similar characteristics when they read articles by guessing words.Therefore,according to the analysis of the characteristics,some feasible opinions are explored,so that effective training types can be used to help students provide the first the level of ability to read in a second language.At present,50 Nigerian students in Nanjing are really good at using word guessing strategies.They often use dictionary-consulting strategies to acquire the meaning of new words.They can only take the initiative to use word guessing methods without reading tools.Although they have received some training in word guessing,they are still not good at word guessing strategies.the konwledge they had gotten from word guessing strategy training is inadequate,which led to the inaccuracy of students using the guessing word strategy,these cited above problems led to the main reasons of the study.Through two tests conducted,the study found out that(1)Nigerian students tend to use sentence meaning,article theme,context,Chinese character side,Chinese character meaning,collocation of new words,grammatical position,word formation,life experience and affix meaning guessing strategies.(2)When using this kind of guessing strategy,the author finds that the students who use the correct guessing strategy often choose the right answer,but where the problem lies is that often they can not tell why the strategy used is right.or wrong.In order to solve the problems described above,the author used the test results to train the participants in guessing words according to their guessing strategies,and also corrected the errors in guessing words.(3)The results of the average rate survey of learners'use of guessing strategies show that middle-level students do not use as many guessing strategies as high-level students.The accuracy of guessing strategies used by high-level foreign students shows that the accuracy of strategies used by high-level foreign students is higher than that of middle-level students.In view of the above situation,I give them the following teaching suggestions:it is suggested to strengthen the training of students'strategies of guessing words,especially in contexts,morphemes guessing words method.
