In the second language reading, learners will always encounter new words, ifonce you encounter a new word, you look for it in a dictionary, it will never be ableto cultivate the ability of rapid reading, therefore, taking a variety of strategies tosolve words problems in second language reading is essential. Word-guessingstrategy is often used by second language learners during second language reading.On the basis of previous researches, this paper select Central Asian students asinvestigate objects, through questionnaires, interviews, comparative analysis, erroranalysis and other methods to survey their using of word-guessing strategy inChinese reading process. The results of the study show that, most of Central Asianstudents will take dictionaries or other external strategies to solve words problemswhen they encounter a new word, but with the improvement of Chinese languagelevel, the using of word-guessing strategy will increase gradually, and the using ofword-guessing strategy shows a consistent order for each stage of them. Accordingto the characteristics of their using of word-guessing strategy, this paper raise somesuggestions, and carry out word-guessing training pointedly, in order to achieveeffective Chinese reading teaching.
