Based on previous research, this study studies spatial cognition for specific parts of the body.By using the detuning paradigm, which combined with E-prime programming and dissociated the head from the body, this study manipulated the direction of the head and body independently and created a critical region opposite to the different parts of the body. And then this study could explore the basis for spatial judgment in different scenes which were virtual and real scene. In other words, individuality tended to use which part of the body as a reference point when he or she judged the space. The study included three experiments. In experiment l,a within-subjects design of 2(Judging basis:the body of the virtual human, the head of the virtual human)×4(Stimulating point position:0°,15°,30°?45°)was carried out in the third-person perspective of the virtual scene. It applied the detuning paradigm and required the subjects to judge the position of the pointing point in the space from the perspective of the third-person.The results were as follows. The main effect of head-body was significant, and the judgment based on the virtual human's body was faster than the judgment based on the virtual person's head. The main effect of angle was significant, and the response time of the 15°stimulus point was faster than that of the 30°stimulus point. The interaction between head-body and angle was significant. When judging the stimulating points of 0°,15° and 30°,the reaction time of the judgment based on the body was faster than that on the head, but there was no significant difference between the response time of the two kinds of judgment basis when judging the stimulus point of 45°direction.In experiment 2,a within-subjects design of 2(Judging basis:the body of the replacer, the head of the replacer)× 4(Stimulating point position:0°,15°,30°,45°)was carried out in the third-person perspective of the real scene. It applied the detuning paradigm and required the subjects to judge the position of the pointing point in the space from the perspective of the third-person.The results were as follows. The main effect of head-body was significant, and the judgment based on the replacer's body was faster than the judgment based on the replacer's head. The main effect of angle wasn't significant. The interaction between head-body and angle was significant. When judging the stimulating points of 30°and 45°,the reaction time of the judgment based on the body was faster than that on the head, but there was no significant difference between the response time of the two kinds of judgment basis when judging the stimulus point of 0° and 45° direction. In experiment 3,a within-subjects design of 2(Judging basis:the body of the subject, the head of the subject)× 4(Stimulating point position:0°,15°,30°,45°)was carried out in the first-person perspective of the real scene. It applied the detuning paradigm and required the subjects to judge the position of the pointing point in the space from the perspective of the first-person.The results were as follows. The main effect of head-body was significant, and the judgment based on the subject's body was slower than the judgment based on the subject's head. The main effect of angle was significant, and the response time of the 300 stimulus point was faster than that of the 00 and 450 stimulus point. The interaction between head-body and angle was significant. When judging the stimulating points of 0°,15°,30°and 45°.the reaction time of the iudgment based on the head was faster than that on the body, but the difference of reaction time was greater when judging 0°,15°and 30°stimulus lights.Summarizing the results of the three studies,we can see the following conclusions:(1)Regardless of in the virtual scene or the real scene, individual with the third-person perspective was apt to choose the body of the replacer as the basis of the spatial judgment.(2)In the first-person perspective of the real scene, individual was apt to choose the head as the basis of the spatial judgment.(3)In the real scene, when the object was far from the reference point.the reaction time was faster. But when the object was at the center line relative to the reference point, the reaction would slightly prolong.
