Objective:This study examined the patterns and predictors of post-traumatic stress symptoms trajectories, the effects of post?traumatic stiress symptoms patterns on other post-traumatic physical and mental reactions among adolescent survivors following the Yancheng tornado in China.Method:The study was conducted using the questionnaire method.121 adolescent survivors were followed up at 6,9,12,and 18 months post-tornado using questionnaire package, which was composed by Participants,The Child PTSD Symptom Scale(CPSS),Network of Relationships Inventory(NRI),Post-Traumatic Cognitive Changes(PCC),Trauma Exposure Inventory,The Scale of Subjective Fear,Posttraumatic Growth Inventory(PTGI)and Learning Burnout Inventory. Results:Latent growth mixture modeling identified four post-traumatic stress symptoms trajectories:resistance(minimal or no symptoms over time,57.0%of the sample),recovery(initially moderate/severe symptoms followed by a gradual return to pre-trauma functioning,20.6%),relapsing/remitting(symptoms displaying a cyclical course,12.4%),and chronic dysfunction(moderate or severe symptoms over time,10.0%).Multivariate logistic regressions indicated that compared to the resilient trajectory, girls were more likely to be recovery trajectory. The more negative cognitive changes adolescents had,the less likely they would develop resilient trajectory.More trauma exposure and subjective fear were predictors for developing chronie dysfiunction. The results of analysis of variance showed that the level of learning burnout in the chronic was significantly higher than in other groups. Conclusions:Adolescent post-traumatic stress symptoms trajectories showed heterogeneous.Although many adolescents remain euthymic or recover over time, some adolescents, especially those with the risk factors noted above, exhibit chronic or relapsing symptoms. Thus, adoleseents with greater exposure to trauma and subjective fear are needed to be given more attention.During selecting post-traumatic stress, symptoms interventions, cognitive methods are preferred to reduce negative cognitive and fear in adolescents.
